You might be doing good work, but people won’t know about it unless to tell them.
I have distilled a formula useful for communicating your work to people.
It’s two simple steps:
do an important thing
tell people you did an important thing
bonus points if you can explain why it is impressive
In other words, be proactive and vocal about doing important things.
The definition of important is entirely subjective. You could review books, or write a journal, or take notes on a python module. It doesn’t really matter what you do. The only criteria for selection is— you want to do it.
